Vivienne Shaw (nee Topajka)
Viv has expertise in: project management,
environmental and conservation management, marketing, strategy, research
and international business.
She has excellent communication skills and can manage complex conservation-related
projects, including advising on fundraising.
Viv is a member of the New Zealand Conservation Authority providing advice
to the Minister and Director General of Conservation; approving national park management
plans and conservation management strategies. She is the Chair of the Lottery
Environment and Heritage Committee.
Viv was the secretary and project manager of the Pomona Island Charitable Trust gaining
valuable experience in managing pest eradications, species re-introductions and monitoring
kiwi. She has been a member and Chair of the Southland Conservation Board;
a Trustee on the Fiordland Conservation
Trust; a member of the Whenua Hou Committee and the
Subantarctic Marine Protection Forum.
Viv has coordinated and taught International Business on the Otago MBA. She has
worked with the School of Marketing and International Business at Victoria University, Wellington
as a Research Advisor; and as lead researcher on a government-funded grant
to research the building of a sustainable competitive advantage for New Zealand service firms in Asia.
Viv has completed consultancy projects with the Department of Conservation, Fiordland College,
Advocate Communications, Fiordland Trails Trust,
Southwest New Zealand Endangered Species Charitable Trust, Bluff Hill/
Motupohue Environment Trust.
Viv has a degree in German, a PhD in Marketing and a Diploma in
Te Ara Reo Maori.
